About Virtual Team Success
I started this blog as a way to thank the people I have interviewed for an article I am writing for the Summer 2010 edition of QRCA VIEWS, a market research journal. This blog is a collection of profiles of successful virtual business owners and professionals. Over a dozen of these interviews are profiled on this blog.
As I talk with each person, here are the areas we cover:
- major challenges of working with people you do not have the chance to meet “in the flesh”
- how to structure communication
- issues such as keeping everyone in alignment in terms of information
- the importance of trust – how you build and maintain it
- getting to know people you never meet
- technology tools that support communication, keeping everyone “on the same page”, and up to date on project status
- picking the right people
- building credibility for the group so you can pitch business (projecting a united front)
- dealing with client politics
- in general, handling an end-to-end project where much of the work is done virtually
If you have experience either working in or running a virtual team, please contribute to my blog. If you would like to talk with me about your experience, and then contribute a summary of our conversation to this blog, you can reach me directly at Kay@UsabilityResources.net.
Thank you for your interest!
